Deanna Breeding exclusively practices family law in Knox County and the surrounding counties.  She handles both agreed and contested divorces including complex matters relating to high asset property division, child custody, support, and domestic violence.  She also handles matters relating to post-divorce proceedings, such as modification of parenting plans, modification of child support, and enforcement of final judgments through contempt.

Ms. Breeding also has experience in matters relating to unmarried parents such as child support, paternity establishment, visitation, and custody issues, specifically in advocating father’s rights. Ms. Breeding has experience in both litigation and mediation in these areas.

Deanna is a devoted advocate for children through her work as a Guardian ad Litem.  A large percentage of her practice is dedicated to representing the best interests of children in neglect and abuse cases. Due to her extensive knowledge of the laws and procedures of juvenile court, Deanna also represents parents whose children have been removed from their custody or parents who are at risk of having their children removed.  Deanna has experience with cases involving physical abuse, psychological abuse, environmental neglect, sexual abuse, medical neglect, drug exposure, and lack of supervision. Deanna also has an excellent rapport with the Department of Children’s Services and service providers commonly employed in these cases.

Deanna is a strong advocate in matters relating to domestic violence and Orders of Protection. She has experience representing victims and those wrongly accused of domestic violence after an Order of Protection is sought against them.
Deanna represents custodians in adoptions and termination of parental rights.  She is familiar with adoptions through the Department of Children’s Services, step-parent adoptions, and relative adoptions.  She also has extensive experience with reverse adoptions and available options regarding adoption assistance.

Deanna grew up in Tazewell, Tennessee.  She graduated from Claiborne High School as salutatorian. Deanna majored in political science and psychology from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.

During law school at Lincoln Memorial University - Duncan School of Law, Deanna served as a member of the Immigration Law Club and Vice-President of the Women of Law Society. She was often on the Dean's List and received the CALI Award of Excellence in Professional Responsibility. Deanna was a research assistant at the Duncan School of Law, where she worked closely with professors and librarians, researched many topics of first impression, and assisted in writing scholarly articles for legal journals.

After her admission to the bar, Deanna remained in Knoxville to practice law. She enjoys spending time with family and volunteering in her local community. She is a member of both the Knoxville Bar Association and the Tennessee Bar Association.
